Stay Inside or Enthaar?

James McDonald has a choice to make, and if his suitors have anything to do with it they’d like him to make the call within the week.

Sydney’s reigning premiership winner was amazed with the ease of Stay Inside’s Pierro Plate romp at Randwick on Saturday, shaking his head in disbelief as the colt eased down while hurtling his way into Golden Slipper contention.

Stay Inside’s co-trainer Michael Freedman has asked McDonald to advise him of his plans imminently with the jockey also having done the early work on Blue Diamond favourite and Golden Slipper second-elect Enthaar, trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

“We’ll stick to the initial plan of going to the Todman and everything being equal onto the Slipper,” Freedman said of Stay Inside. “I spoke to James on Saturday night and while the Todman is three weeks away, if we’re going to start getting organised we’d like to possibly know within a week if he will stay with him.”

Meanwhile, the Team Hawkes-trained Remarque has been ruled out of this Saturday’s Silver Slipper at Rosehill with an elevated temperature.
